Advocacy & Outreach

Congressional Advocacy After the coup, TUN met with several members of U.S. Congress, including Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA-11), Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA-09), Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-NJ-07), and Rep. David Price (D-NC-04). TUN worked with our partners on the Hill to write “Dear Colleague” letters to the Biden Administration.

In the leadup to the July 25th referendum, TUN met with 15 SFRC and HFAC offices to advocate for a clear U.S. response to Tunisia’s democratic backsliding. Our efforts translated into social media posts and statements from Senate Foreign Relations and House Foreign Affairs leadership, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT), a bipartisan letter from the House Democracy Partnership to Secretary Blinken
